Are women in India Weaker then Men? unsafe? "Reservation" makes us weaker !!!!

A question mark came to my mind when i was travelling in a Delhi Metro observing co-passengers. It took to my attention that while i was in MRT of  USA & Singapore,  no where they kept a seat reserved for women, Plus no where they had a complete separate cabin . USA , Singapore certainly are as modern as Indian is, as developed as India is.... then what is the concept of giving these extra reservations to women?

I do not wish to question or do not have any complaint against this, but just trying to put mixed views on this. This blog is about the thought which troubled me with following questions:

1) Are women of India unsafe among we Men here? If unsafe, why just 1 cabin? make 3-3 cabin, half for men, half for women, 2 for mixed travelling with families.
2) Are women not strong enough to stand or manage to secure a seat on their own like men? if so, we talk about equality  in all fields !
3) If they are equal to men in all aspects, despite of seats reserved, even when someone offer a seat to women, i have not seen any women refusing to accept a seat, they always accept the seat, mostly infact . Why do not our generation of girls / women refuse to accept the offering of seat saying " no thanks, i am okay and strong enough to stand this journey".

Women are strong, capable of doing every thing and they are equal to men. I feel providing a seat or a cabin to our women is a disrespect towards them. We should encourage our women in country to realise that they are strong enough, they should not accept the free offering of reserved seats. They should tell these men that take out this concept of reservation at-least from metro / MRT. This message should get into the head of each women / girl, this shall make them realize that we all are equal, strong and do not need any such offering unless anyone is disable/ ill / weak which is also applicable for a disable men / ill man / weak men.

While i was in Singapore , the seats has a beautiful sticker on few seats or walls saying, - " Please offer this seat to kids / to a person in need "   This is a decent way of suggesting that these seats could be of use for people who are little weak or in need then you, but no hard feeling or reservation. In addition to this, i swear to God, Wherever my daughter went in Singapore MRT, Local MRT  or train within sentosa campus, my daughter was always offered a seat. the moment they see a child entering a cabin, men / women they stand up to offer a seat.  But there was no concept of reservation .

My question here is, we all in GENERAL category feel that reservation is a poison for society, despite of a fact that yes the reservation was offered to weaker people / society/community /  strong freedom fighters etc, if so, does  women in the families of this GENERAL categories oppose this reservation concept if jobs / government jobs / exams/ colleges etc?  If these women of General category opposes reservation in jobs / schools/ competitive exams, why these women accepts the reservation in Metro / MRT?

Its a mixed question again :

1) Are women unsafe in India?
2) Are women of India Psychology made felt that they need reservation because a small part of a women is still not as strong as men?
3) If Women also feel that reservation in India is a poison for many, why they accept any kind of reservation, may it be a MRT / Metro.

My point here is, if at all we have a strong concern where we feel women are unsafe from men,  we should bring arrangements where women do not feel weak. Providing reservation would mentally give a message to a women that they are weak. Why do not they make 3-3 cabin for men & women, 2 common for people travelling with families. In Benguluru, long back when i was used to travel in local bus, they had this brilliant concept in buses. Concept was, men has to enter the bus from rear door and women to enter from front door of the bus. half of the bus was from middle is for men and half for women. This helps to avoid physical touch of opposite sexes & allows a better respect for each other.

Allow me to post an image  as below :

It says it all, "Reservation" in any form is a poison .

  1. Ofcourse, women are not safe in India, even minor girls are not safe..Our society is full of uncivilised and cruel people..but yes, making reservation in trains ,buses etc makes no sense if we cant respect females from heart..your point is correct as reservation for seats in buses, metro train should be stopped as it should be for any person who is in need.. Offering seats to females shows the etiquettes of good well mannered men and to reject the same by women shows their self respect and to offer them to persons who are in need is a sign of humanity...we can't relate reservation with unsafe environment for females in our country..as our Government is very lenient in dealing with those mentally sick people..we dont have any strict punishments for these psychologically sick people who dont know how to respect females...To respect women and females whatever is the relation mother, daughter, wife, girlfriend etc..is a sign of great people...
I dont know when can we have safe society, safe country for better upbringing of our daughters...when can we have great people in Great Country...when can we proud of our Great India..

    1. Well if women are unsafe, and if providing reservation in metro is a reason of unsafe environment, why do they provide just 2 seats per coach? why don't they separate the entire coach?
Why among crowd just 2 women should sit and rest of the others to stand?

get 3-3 coaches for men / women, 2 for families.

    2. As I said above there is no connection between unsafe environment and giving reservations for seats in metro buses... Respect for females should be from heart.. Your point is reasonable and correct to give reservations for needy people is a wise practice.. Not only women.. Ur proposed solution is good..
