Scientist Nikola Tesla, A  life of scientist who died with 200 patents but debt of 20,000$.  Must read his life to get inspired.

He died with a debt of 20,000 $ USD. Few people were born to create history for others, this blog is dedicated to such a great person named "Nikola tesla". I started this page by a death but not by his birth for some important reason.  I wish to write about his life whatever i have read about him in books, websites, movies, documentaries, i realized he left a great impression in my mind for ever.  Also, i feel whoever is close to me, must know about this Scientist , the below image is of N tesla when is was in 20's.

Nikola tesla born in 1856, died in 1943 at age of 86 years, these 86 years of his life has created & invented many interesting things in this world. Unlike other scientist, his achievements has a remarkable value in this world but then his life is more interesting to be discussed for various reasons which i shall go though in details. He was so talented that he invented various things & became very very famous world wide, Despite of he being so talented he died with just a name and no property / assets/ money / bank balance / family  . The eccentric inventor and modern Prometheus died 75 years ago, after a rags-to-riches to rags life.

on June 6th , 1884 he arrived new york city, Unites states of america with 4 cents in his pocket ( age 28 yrs ).He knew no one in city, but he had a recommendation from Edison's Paris office for a person he had always admired, that was 35 years old Thomas Edison. Edison was already a great name as a scientist & inventor . Edison invented incandescent light bulb 5 years ago where to light something one need not have any natural gas  but can be turned on using Alternating current, this invention by Edison was already astonishing to people. the below image is of Edison & his incandescent bulb.

  Tesla walked into Edison office with great ideas in his mind. However, edison was entirely working on DC system ( direct current ) whereas the ideas with tesla were with AC system (Alternating current ). DC certainly has limitations including transmission of Direct current cannot travel / go  to a large distance. It needs to have a generating system every mile in between. So this was a very big problem to edison & to world. But Tesla had a solution to it !!!! A Brilliant solution !!!

Solution to it was an AC current. But to work on AC current, they never had any AC motor, even Edison tried but no success. 2 years before he met edison, Tesla invented an AC motor. 

When tesla was in a class of his engineering polytechnic, his teacher told to class that it is impossible to make a motor that could run on AC current. Tesla objected, he objected to his teacher & Class! they made fun of him and felt he is a mad / arrogant to say that. Professor said to class - " Mr. Tesla may accomplish great things, pls invent it, but he certainly would never do this ", tesla Disagreed. Tesla said- " I can do this !"

Tesla then started working on it, he did not found a solution, all he can see is the problem with AC motors where two metal rubs on each other creating lot of noise, sparks, fire, energy loss etc. He spent day & night, year after year, he later wrote . Solving the problem of alternating current became a matter of life & death to him, that was such a passion for him. Obssed with his this passion, he left studying, he left scholarship, he was dropped out of school ! He was becoming hallucinated in his own machinery world and was almost getting into a nervous breakdown. after 4 years working like this, in 1882 , one evening while walking in a buddpest park , solution came to him like a flash of lighting.  He said "I cannot describe my emotions ".

He developed the prototype and met Edison while he started working in Edison's company . He felt that if he could present such a concept of prototype to Edison , Edison would love to develop in his own company with the help of a very junior employee in Edison's company. However, edison was more of practical person who wanted to invent things to "sell". tesla told about Ac motors to his boss, Edison replied saying - " There is no future of Alternating current, you are wasting time ".  After 6 months, tesla abruptly quits Edison's labs.

After he quit, he decided to get patents on his designs and all then he wanted was investments . He then worked with 2 new jersey based investors on this design, who cheated him on the patents and left him penniless. When it came to business, tesla would always be naive. He then have to spent a year digging ditches for 2 $ a day, he became a labor. He even said that their were so many days where he was unsure from where his next food would coming  from ? 

Later he got lucky when 2 investors put money for his patent and gave him a lab to work. Later, 22 year old George westinghouse had invented a rail road air brake, but to make Trains successful for future, George wanted to have a solution for future where trains could travel long distance at better speed, the future was electricity. Edison's lab solutions were biggest competition available to compete with a solution which George was trying to attempt. He then met Tesla and felt tesla is a jewel. in 1888 George bought tesla patents at tens & thousand of US dollars along with a royalty of 2.5$ per horse power sold. If this was going to happen, it would mean that TESLA WOULD HAD BEEN RICHEST PERSON IN HISTORY as most of the thing we see today is based on Alternating current motors. Going forward, it was not easy as George already spent a lot in the project and on other side edison was a tough competition in race of invention . George walked into Tesla asking to review the contract as he may not be able to pay him royalty due to over extended cost already. As tesla was already a naive in business & he just teared the contract without giving a thought.  Later, he did succeed too !

He wanted to then transfer power without wires i.e. wireless transmission ( we use it today as radio/ mobile etc) He meanwhile invented many other things which amde hima  famous person. he had a habbit of making vision and announce it to world. People later started assuming he is a fool, his few of the experiments cost a lot of investments for investors which over the years started creating an impression that he is getting mad. His visions were strong and sounded good for mankind, but he was finding hard to find investors. Everywhere he had to live in hotels. he even revealed that he has received signals from mars. , also he insisted he had an aparatus to reply the signals back into mars. With such statements, his impression was getting affected  among investors.

JP Morgan, a famous investor of USA was impressed with invention of AC motors by Tesla, he wanted to hear what tesla have now as vision. Tesla presented that he has a tower to transmit message from one tower to another, without wire. However , tesla hide his real intenstions to make unlimited electricity free to anyone with antenna, if he would tell this to JP morgon, morgon would never be interested as free things would never make a business case to Morgan. That is why tesla told that he want to transmit message from one point to another point without wire, for this experiment he wanted to have a huge land and investment. Idea of tesla was to give free energy for betterment of humanity. With Morgan's money, tesla bought 200 acre land in long islands for experiments. Morgon decided only to invest 150,000 $, with which Tesla started to built the tower.

But Scientist macroni Guilielmo ruined Tesla dream,  on dec 12, 1901 guilielmo sent 1st wireless message across the atlantic based on tesla's patents, 8 years later,  Macroni would earn a noble price for inventing wireless telegraphy , radio. The minute JP morgon gets to know that wireless telegraphy invention is already done now by macroni, he was done with tesla, he even stopped the remaining funding for this project. If Tesla had retained a royalty for alternating current, he would had all the money he would needed for his projects and experiments. He was born with a lot of abilty to invent, but limitation of funding did not allowed him to attempt . He certainly had visions which later were invented by some or the other ones in world.  Tesla kept trying to complete this project, as he wanted to transmit unlimited power from this tower. He failed to get attention of any investor. He even mentioned that this tower would be powerful enough to send signals to nearby planets.

Nikola tesla , changed hotel to hotel, running with debt of 20,000 $ , he died in new york on 7th jan 1943 ( Age 86) , room 3327, on 33rd floor. He always had been a superstitious to follow something that is divisible by 3 for his entire life. Most interestingly 6 months later his death, supreme court of united states of america , ruled out that the invention belonging to Macroni actually to tesla. i.e. If this was known in year 1901 when Tesla was working on JP morgons money to invent messaging,  alot many others by now would had been invented. He could have shown ways to reach mars in 19th century itself.  The world always shall remember n Tesla with a  great respect.

The reason which encouraged me to write about his life  and inventions is that a person should realize his strengths, his abilities and work in accordance to it. None of us are same, but we could individually do miracles to which it does not matter even if it makes a commercial sense or not, at times, success has different flavors which comes as Memory, respect, name in history . He certainly was  a jewel which gave us future, with over 200 patents he gave the basic frame work to electrical generations.

Many of the things that he visualized that time, has bought to reality by current generation. Wireless networking, Cellphone !
